• Account details: your name, email address, and optionally a phone number and profile photo.

• Sign in with Apple or Google: the name and email address that provider shares with us.

• Tickets and reservations: the name, email and phone number you enter, the event, ticket type, quantity, price and payment reference. Your card details are entered on Paystack's checkout and never reach us.

• Location, only if you allow it, to show nearby venues. You can switch this off at any time in your device settings.

• Activity in the app, such as venues and events you save or mark as going.

• A push notification token for your device, if you turn notifications on.

• Venue owners: payout bank details are verified and stored by Paystack. We keep only the bank name, the last 4 digits of the account number and the verified account name.

• To run your account and issue, deliver and check your tickets (to perform our contract with you).

• To process payments and refunds, and to pay venues and organisers.

• To send booking emails and the notifications you've chosen to receive (with your consent).

• To keep JOL secure, prevent fraud, and improve the service (our legitimate interests).

• To keep financial records that South African tax law requires (legal obligation).

We do not sell your personal information, and we don't use advertising trackers.

We share only what each party needs to do its job:

• The venue or organiser of your event: your name and ticket details, so they can admit you.

• Paystack: card payments, refunds and venue payouts.

• Supabase: our database, logins and file storage.

• Vercel: hosting for our website.

• Resend: sending our emails.

• Expo: delivering push notifications.

• Google and Apple: sign-in (if you choose it), plus maps and address search.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

Some of these providers store data outside South Africa. Our database is hosted in the European Union, and some services are based in the United States. We only use providers that are bound to protect personal information to a standard comparable to POPIA, as section 72 of POPIA requires.

We keep your account information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove or anonymise your personal information, except ticket and payment records, which we must keep for 5 years for tax and accounting purposes.

Your data is encrypted in transit, access is limited by role, and payment details are handled only by Paystack. If a breach affects your information, we will tell you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

Under POPIA you can:

• ask what personal information we hold about you, and ask for a copy;

• ask us to correct or delete it;

• object to how we use it, or withdraw consent you've given (for example, for notifications);

• complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at www.inforegulator.org.za.

To use any of these rights, email support@letsjol.app. You can also delete your account yourself from your profile. We reply within 30 days.

JOL is only for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think a minor has signed up, contact us and we'll delete the account.

The website uses your browser's local storage only to keep you signed in and remember your settings. We don't use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. For important changes we'll also let you know in the app or by email.
